We’re back with more updates!!
Building further on this functionality, we’ve now linked it to our POST Token feature, enabling you to collect information on your lead’s past website activity — from before they even became your lead!!
Let’s jump in and see how it works under the hood!
Managing POST Tokens
First, a quick crash course in POST Tokens.
The POST Token feature connects your web forms directly to IRIS CRM and enables automatic creation of leads after they submit a form on your website.
When a new lead is created via POST Tokens, the web form’s fields will be automatically transferred to the corresponding lead fields.
At the same time, your sales reps will be automatically assigned to the lead and receive email notifications.
For more information on using POST Tokens please see our knowledge base article on Managing POST Token URLs.
Getting More Bang for Your Buck
While the POST Token functionality is an essential tool for every ISO who generates leads from their website, it still doesn’t provide any extra useful information on the lead — apart from what is entered by the lead in the web form.
The new update changes all that — and you now have the ability to collect the lead’s website activity data from as far as last six months!!
Check out what pages your lead visited and get an understanding of what interests them the most, or identify potential bottlenecks.
Your sales reps can use the information to get a better feel for their leads and modify their strategy accordingly.
The way this works is that after you enable visitor tracking on your website, the activity of every visitor will be stored in cookies which are saved locally in their web browser.
The cookie data is saved in the browser for a period of six months.
During this time, the visitor is basically anonymous as there is no way to connect the data in the cookies with an actual person.
However, after a recurring visitor submits the contact form on your website, then in addition to the form data that is carried over, the system will also collect the cookie data stored in the visitor’s browser!
In this way, you can now paint a more complete picture of your new lead and potentially close your new deal faster!
Putting It All Together
In order to use the new feature, you will first need to enable the visitor tracking functionality in your IRIS CRM site.
Check out our knowledge base article on Managing Visitor Tracking Sites for a complete rundown on setting up and using visitor tracking.
Once you’ve set up your visitor tracking, head over to the Manage POST Token URLs page in the IRIS CRM Administration and enable the visitor tracking option in your Token settings.
After everything’s set up, your leads will start to come in and you can check their past activity right in the new lead notification popup.
Here is an example of one such popup which shows a visitor’s activity three months before they actually submitted the web form:
Oh, and did we mention that the POST Token management page has also been updated and enhanced?
The page now provides more useful information by default, and the Token settings popup is also much easier to use.
Here is a quick screen grab of the new popup:
Note the new Track Visitor at the bottom of the popup which you can now enable for all your Token settings. For convenience, this option is selected by default.
And there you go!
Stay tuned as we continue to find more cool ways to make your work easier for you and your team!
